I'm a Texan by birth and a nomad at heart.  I got the travel bug early in life and love nothing more than travelling to a new destination.

After graduating with a BA in English Literature from Rhode College, I took a belated gap year to enjoy traveling around Australia and New Zealand with a backpack, a cousin, and a brother for four months. I then headed west with a best friend on a 9,000 mile road trip around the West Coast of USA and British Columbia.

I confess, I have always wanted be a travel writer for The New York Times or Condé Naste Traveller. But years ago, rather than sharpen my pencil and climb the freelance ladder, I joined an international luxury Hotel group with the goal of living abroad.

Just eight months into the job, I fell spoon over fork in love with a French Chef. Ever since, my life has been a heavenly gastronomique journey.

Our first three newlywed years were spent on a remote island in the West Indies. We then accepted a transfer to the English countryside which has been home for the last six years. Guess some dreams do come true.

In addition to our adventures living abroad, we have enjoyed sailing around the Caribbean and traveling to South America, Asia, Europe and North Africa. Personally, there is nothing more exciting than exploring a new place together. We both enjoy being on unfamiliar ground and immersing ourselves into the local culture.

A second dream came true when our family grew by one in 2011. While on maternity leave I (finally) listened to my husband's nagging and my inner self's yearning to start writing.  Life with a passionate French chef, a precocious toddler, and one opinionated dog all inspire me to write about our adventures both abroad and at home at Callie & Chef

I have been a featured contributor for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts on their family travel blog, Have Family Will Travel, and food blog, Taste. If you have a project that requires top-notch professional writing, please get in touch!

When I am not singing nursery rhymes, resurrecting  a room destroyed by Ouisie or enjoying a country walk with the dog, I am working on the next blog or crafting a new pitch for a freelance article.

Since there usually is never enough time during the day--- I find serenity late at night when the household is asleep and its just me, my words, and the stories we tell.
